About the General Assistant Position

The General Assistant at Cashbuild is responsible for providing a superior customer service experience. This position requires the ability to work independently and be self-motivated. The other responsibilities of this position include overseeing the various departments and the loading and merchandising of stock.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Grade 12 certificate with minimum of 1 (one) year experience
  • You should be able to communicate effectively in English and in the language that’s commonly used in the geographical area where you work.
  • You should also be able to perform simple calculations accurately.
  • You should be willing to work on weekends and holidays.

Customer Service

  • Acknowledge all customers and provide them with the necessary information to make informed decisions regarding their products.
  • This will help them make informed decisions and improve their experience.
  • Assist them with any inquiries regarding their purchases.
  • Ensure that all orders are loaded without any delays.
  • Before a customer purchases goods, make sure that they are loaded carefully and that the vehicle is not damaged.
  • Also, inform them about the additional services that are available to them.
  • Some of these include: delivery service, bulk deposits, glass cutting, credit programs, and special orders.


  • Make sure that the area where the goods are being stored is free of obstructions.
  • Also, make sure that the price is clearly marked.
  • It’s important to make sure that the restrooms and showers are ready to use before a customer enters.
  • Doing so can help prevent them from getting irritated or injured.

Safety requirements (OHSA)

  • The company takes the safety of its employees and customers seriously.
  • This is evidenced by the proper handling of stock and the use of safety equipment.
  • It is the responsibility of the company to ensure that the areas where it has a responsibility are maintained properly.

Security & loss prevention

Make sure that the displays are checked to identify any gaps or issues, and report any problems to management. Also, make sure that the products are being loaded with the necessary documentation.
