As the Event Host/Public Relations Officer, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the success of this event. Your responsibilities will include coordinating logistics, managing communications, and facilitating the smooth execution of the program. Duties and Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary point of contact and coordinator for all event-related activities, including liaising with Premier Lesufi’s office, the Crime Prevention Wardens, and other stakeholders.
  • Oversee and manage the logistics of the event, including venue selection, setup, and attendee coordination.
  • Draft and distribute press releases, media alerts, and invitations to local media outlets to ensure widespread coverage of the event.
  • Collaborate closely with security personnel to ensure all safety protocols are strictly adhered to during the event.
  • Act as the event emcee or facilitator, introducing key speakers, maintaining the event’s flow, and engaging with attendees.
  • Coordinate post-event activities, including media interactions, interviews, and press conferences as required.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Proven experience in public relations, event coordination, or a related field.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse audiences.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • Familiarity with high-level government protocols and procedures is a distinct advantage.
  • Experience working with media outlets and managing press engagements.

Minimum Requirements

  • Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, leading up to and during the event.
  • Must be based in Gauteng and able to work onsite as required.
  • Must meet the prescribed physical and medical standards set by the South African Police Service (SAPS).
  • No criminal record or pending criminal cases.
  • Must meet the required visual acuity standards without the use of corrective lenses.
  • Willingness to undergo a comprehensive medical examination, psychological evaluation, and security vetting.
  • Prepared to relocate anywhere in South Africa as needed.

How to Apply

APPLICATION FOR APPOINTMENT IN TERMS OF THE SOUTH AFRICAN POLICE SERVICE ACT, 1995 (ACT NO 68 OF 1995)

To apply for this position, candidates must complete the official SAPS application form and affirm under oath or solemn declaration that all information provided is true and accurate. Applicants must also meet the following criteria:

  1. Residency and Age Requirements:
    • Be a permanent resident of the Republic of South Africa (RSA) and provide documentary proof.
    • Be at least 18 years old but under 30 years old, with documentary proof of age.
  2. Physical and Mental Fitness:
    • Undergo a physical and medical examination as determined by SAPS and be found physically and mentally fit for the role.
    • Complete a psychological assessment as determined by the National Commissioner of SAPS and meet the profile of a police official.
  3. Educational and Language Proficiency:
    • Possess a Senior Certificate (Grade 12) or an equivalent qualification, with documentary proof.
    • Be fluent in English and at least one other official South African language.
  4. Additional Requirements:
    • Be prepared to take the oath of office and undergo any training as determined by the National Commissioner of SAPS.
    • Not have any visible tattoos that conflict with the objectives of SAPS.
    • Have no previous criminal convictions.
    • Be willing to have fingerprints taken and undergo a comprehensive background check.
    • Be prepared to serve anywhere in South Africa as required.
